unlocking the cages of captivity while sitting on a park bench is a durational performance, site-specific installation, created by performance artist George Emilio Sanchez and visual artist Patty Ortiz.  The piece, produced by More Art Inc. explores the interplay between our dreams and the realities of our existence.  This collaborative performance installation is intended as a companion work to Fred Wilson’s Mind Forged Manacles on public display in Columbus Park, located at Borough Hall, Brooklyn.  unlocking the cages of captivity while sitting on a park bench was performed in a 2-hour alternating sequence of live performance and projected images in acknowledgement of Indigenous Peoples Day.
